EIGHT DECLUTTERING HACKS FOR CLEAN-UP-YOUR-ROOM DAY

May 10th is just around the corner which means Clean up Your Room Day is coming! Much to children’s chagrin, this holiday with unknown origin is every parent’s delight. But fear not parents; you could turn this dreaded day into a fun and exciting one. Check out these DIY decluttering hacks you could do with your children this coming Clean up Your Room Day.

1.     Tame those cables using toilet paper rolls
You’ve used up your toilet paper? Do not throw that toilet paper roll just yet. As it turns out, these are perfect to tame those tangled cables cluttered around your children’s room. Ask your children to cover it with colorful designs to make it more fun. Then simply roll the cables inside. You could also add labels to them. This serves as training for them as well so that they will know how to put things back where they belong.

2.     Shower hooks for hanging ties and belts
No matter how organized your closet is, sometimes, ties and belts just keep on messing with it. Worry no more because you could use something you already have. Just get your old shower curtain and remove the hooks. Let your children attach them to a hanger and voila, you have an organizer for all those ties and belts. Make your children organize those based on colors, size, or prints. This way, they will remember it every time they put it back.

3.     Empty cereal boxes as drawer dividers
Sometimes, your children keep everything inside their drawers. So when you open them, you’ll be surprised to find a trash bin. Help your children organize their drawers with the use of their old cereal boxes. This is also another way to boost your child’s creativity. Just get their empty cereal boxes and all you have to do is cut them in half. Let your children design or paint on them. Then, place it inside their drawers. These boxes will serve as their drawer organizer. Let them label the boxes so they wouldn’t turn their drawers into a trash bin next time.

Admit it or not, we keep shopping bags for future use. The next thing you know, you have a cabinet full of them. But because you can’t let go of those, you just end up having another cabinet full of more. Gather your cute shopping bags and let your children choose. Let them put some cute stickers and labels. These shopping bags will serve as an instant organizer when you attach them in your children’s walls!


5.     Ponytail holder
Your little girl loves her hair. So does accessorizing it. But her ponytails are little that they’re usually misplaced and hard to find. You’ll be surprised one day to find them all gone and your little girl is asking you to buy her another set. With the help of a key holder, teach your little girl never to misplace a ponytail again.

Some of the most annoying things you could find in your child’s room are pencils and crayons. You could find it everywhere. Sometimes, when you’re unfortunate, you will step on some. 7.     Book stoppers
It’s a good thing if your children love to read. But sometimes, it clutters their rooms as well. It’s about time you teach your children how to organize their books. For that, you will need a book stopper. Create one just by using printed fabrics and sand. Help your children sew a fabric and stuff some sand inside. 8.     Old crate storage
Now, we’ve reached the parent’s real enemies: toys! They’re everywhere inside your children’s rooms. One thing you could do is to teach them where to keep them.
